I have worked in the field of mental health for over thirty years in both NHS and private settings. During this time I have explored many alternative and complimentary approaches to health.
I am an Accredited Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist, Senior Accredited Integrative Counsellor and Psychotherapist and also a trained body therapist. I have a busy private practice in East Sussex.
With a background in Humanistic and Transpersonal psychology, an interest in the mystical and spiritual aspects of the psyche has shaped my outlook. I believe that each of us possess the innate wisdom to harness health and healing.
Having also worked closely alongside practitioners with a traditional orthodox approach, this too has influenced my outlook. The result is an understanding of each, a synthesis or bifocal perspective where both worlds can be embraced.
I have had numerous articles published and am co-author of a recent book on CBT. I have a new book on depression due for publication in Spring 2013. As well as teaching, training and consultancy, my company also provides specialist learning disability and mental health nursing services.
Over the years I have continued to explore new ideas, push boundaries and develop services, particularly where people’s needs are not being met and their health suffers as a result. I am passionate about mindful awareness and its many benefits. I am keen to promote social responsibility and putting an end to all forms of injustice.
I hope you like my regular health blogs.
With all good wishes, Steve
